A letter from Dick Francis

Dick Francis and his family have asked me to pass their thanks to all members of the Dick Francis Group for their very kind messages of condolence on the death of Mary Francis. It has been a great comfort to them to know that so many special people have joined with them in their grief.

They would like to especially pass their best wishes to those members of the Group who came to the recent signings in New York, Washington and Virginia. Memories of those happy days with Mary just one week or so before her death will remain with us all.

Dick Francis asks that fans and friends be patient while awaiting a personal reply to letters and cards. As you can imagine he has received many such messages of condolence and he will try to reply to them all but this will take rather a long time. In addition there had built up a backlog of correspondence as he had been away in England for some months. He hopes he will get around to them eventually but asks your understanding in the meantime.

He has also asked me to thank you all for your birthday greetings. His 80th birthday on October 31 was a subdued celebration as there was someone missing.
