I first took a view of Chievely Service Station which is on the M4, the main roadway from London to Wales, and is very close to "horse country".

Lambourn is a sleepy village, hidden in a valley, just north of the M4 and about 10 miles from Chievely. It corresponds to Kentucky in the U.S. The village is heralded by a sign which reads, "Valley of the Racehorse".

It is first viewed from a hill-top with very little parking space on a narrow, winding road. The village is small and dominated by farms and racing stables. The Church of St Michael and All Angels is at the heart of the village.

To the north, one moves up on to the downs and the road is surrounded by grassed raceways with white rails on the far side. These are the "gallops" where the race-horses practise.

It is here that the phials of virus agent were to be handed over in Driving Force and is a marker for the imaginary village in Longshot.
