the Aaland Islands Finland I have enjoyed reading by now, 25 books by Dick Francis. At first I started reading Francis because I also practiced a little bit showjumping, dressage and was generally very much into horses and horseback-riding, and Dick wrote about horses in a very vivid believable manner. Now the occasional Dick Francis book is my only tie back to my riding-days. But each new Francis-book I read brings back sweet memories with an interesting mystery-plot as a bonus.

Tennessee Do you know the title of the Dick Francis book about the trnscontinental trip across Canada for horse races along the way; the character doing the solving is posing as a waiter on the train. I can find no reference to this book and I have forgotten the title. It was a great book and I would like to find a copy. I have copies of the rest of his books. Would appreciate any information. Seattle Adore Dick Francis books, keep rereading them and am relieved to see I am not alone in this pleasure. They have so much to admire in the characters vitality, honesty, humor. The language is descriptive yet the plot never slows. A master writer.

Texas I orginally read Dick Francis from a Reader's Digest. I fell in love with him. He is the first author that I made an effort to own all the books. It is fun to see how his writing evolved over the years. Going from very, very good to great. I have stayed up many a night finishing off a book, even though I've read them all, several times. Sometimes, if I'm in need of comfort, only a Dick Francis book will do. The hard part is choosing which one. Eventually, I would like to get them all in hardcover.

The first book I read by Dick Francis was Break In with Kit Fielding and his sister Holly. I've truly loved the three books of Sid Haley. All of Dick Francis' characters make me want to know more about their lives. They're so vivid you want to know them as people.

Laughlin, Nevada I was introduced to Dick Francis books by way of Reflex, I so enjoyed the writing that I activly searched for other books by Mr Francis. I now have all of his books except Second Wind, which I thought was not up to his usual standard, I did not like the book and I have since given my copy away. I will never part with the rest of the colection, which I tend to pick up and re-read as often as twice a year. In the story "Stright" Mr Francis writes a short blurb (if you will) that I have passed on to friends and family alike, dI wonder if it is in fact of his own devise, or whether he heard of, or copied it from another sorce.........May I deal with honour...... ..............May I act with courage........ ..............May I achieve humility........ I really don't have a favorite book because they are all so good, but I picked "Proof" because it got me hooked on Dick Francis books. I always like his main characters so much that I often wish there would be more books with the same main characters in them.

Wyoming I actually started with Mr. Francis' first novel, "Nerve" and have never looked back. I've read all of his books, anxiously awaiting each new one. No one has his feel for characters. Dick Francis is definitely irreplaceable! He retired once and came back, and I believe wrote some of his best books after that. Great man, great writer!
